Xamk’s new campus will be completed by autumn 2024 in Kotkansaari, Kotka’s main harbour.
Inlookille
a total of over 600 m2 of soundproofing glass will be delivered to the site. The majority of the glazing is 2K 8.8 mm phon / 16 / 12.8 mm phon vertical frameless construction, achieving a sound insulation value of Rw49db for the glazing. Approximately 100 m2 of 1K-laminated sound-insulated laminated glass will be delivered to the site.
To Alfacom
a total of around 1500 m2 of glass for internal fittings will be delivered to the site. Most of these are 2K elements with different glasses and SG structure.
The new campus building is characterised by large, scaly metal-clad roof tiles, which give the building a floating character. The first floor and the façade facing Vellamo are transparent in nature, showcasing the building’s activities and enlivening the urban environment.
The campus is designed jointly by NRT Architects Ltd and Aarti Ollila Ristola Architects Ltd.
The structures vary according to the desired safety glass properties and sound insulation requirements. In addition, we supply a large number of 1K laminated glasses and EI30 and EI60 fire resistant glasses.
